My "Abacus",
modeled after the ancient Chinese counting tool, was created as a bedside
"counter". Go ahead and laugh - it is intended to be humorous! The couples
engaged in various positions, symbolic of ancient fertility rites, add inspiration to
art.
Each abacus is created
to look like a relic, dug up at an Etruscan ruin. My original abacus frame was
shaped like a trapezoid - similar to the traditional counting instrument. The figures can
be placed on a trapezoid frame or inside a ruin representing an archeological site. Each
abacus has a rustic finish of earthtones and tarnished metal.
